Stephanie Mustopich, MA, LMFT

“Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I’ll try again tomorrow.” Mary Anne Radmacher
I can appreciate how much bravery it takes to start your own journey of growth and transformation. I’d be honored to help you build a life worth living and find happiness and wellness. Here are some things that might be helpful for you to know about me before we begin.
I go by Steph or Stephanie (she/her). I started my therapy journey in Minneapolis. I was a residential counselor, working with kids in an inpatient setting. These children and adolescents suffered from mental health challenges such as mood and anxiety disorders, personality disorders, self-destructive behaviors, eating disorders, thought/dissociative disorders, and history of trauma. It was hard work, but rewarding and transformative for me and the kiddos.
Then, I found a new challenge. Working at an inpatient facility with adolescents and adults who struggled with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health issues. I witnessed the heartbreaks that families endured as they experienced a loved one struggling with addiction. I also sat next to individuals who had lost everything because of how addiction ravaged their lives and were totally alone. In seeing all this, I was motivated to do more. I decided to go to Antioch University to obtain my Masters and be a more effective helper. Always feeling connecting to helping youth and adolescents, I sought out an internship at a local community mental health agency where I worked doing in-home therapy and day treatment for kids and their families.
After graduation, I worked toward licensure doing community mental health work. As a self-identified queer person, I found that I had a passion for working with kids, adolescents and adults who identified as LGBTQ+ which became the focus for my private practice work.
I believe strongly in constantly learning and growing professionally in order to best meet the needs of my clients and am certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I am also passionate about educating myself and other therapists about the needs of LGBTQ+ clients and making it safe for them to seek out professional help. I am developing a workshop with this as the focus and will be presenting at a state-wide conference in September of this year.
I specialize in treating ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, LGBTQ+ issues, Life transitions, Parent Coaching, Peer Relationships, Social Anxiety and Self-Esteem.
In my free time, I like to stay active by spending time in nature, traveling, hiking, and exploring new places. I enjoy yoga and feel recharged when I’m at the beach. I most enjoy my time when I’m with friends and loved ones, especially my kiddo. Exploring with them and seeing their eyes light up when they experience things for the first time reminds me to appreciate all the moments and stay grounded in the here and now.
